When it comes to preparing for an event, sometimes it's not just as simple as having the legs freshly shaven, the hair looking spiffy, or the make up contoured to perfection..
It's all about the lead up, particularly when it comes to beauty prep.
With Spring racing season upon us, it's time to get the ground work done ladies! I'm talking about being organised (one thing that honestly I am hopeless at!) So I guess you could say I'm not only writing this blog out for all of the Base Colour followers out there, but as a push in the right direction for myself to get a move on and prepare myself for the busy couple of months ahead!
THE GROUND WORK
SKIN - peels
As a regular habit of mine, I ensure that I get a regular monthly peel at my local skin clinic 'Clinica Lase'. Not only have I seen RIDICULOUS improvements in my skin (less blemishes, better complexion, more hydration/less oil), but I love the fact that they take so much care in ensuring that the treatments they do on your skin are suited best to you. I promise you, you won't know yourself after a couple of peels, and your skin will definitely be thanking you race day when that make up is looking super smooth and the sun isn't reflecting off that super shiny t zone!
SKIN - products
As mentioned above, I can't hype enough about Clinica Lase as yes, all of my skin care is also purchased from there. Two products I am particularly lusting over though, which are MUST HAVES in the lead up to Spring Racing, are the Fruit Enzyme Mask by Aspect and the Pure Enzymes by Cosmedix. These life savers are like a mini facial you can complete at home, exfoliating away dead skin and leaving your face feeling and looking like you've just left the clinic (in other words, amazing!)
Having the perfect styled hair on race day comes down to not only how good your hair stylist is at that up-do, but also how healthy your hair is (especially if it's coloured).
My regular visits to Edwards and Co in Melbourne have been my lifesaver. I never thought I'd live to see the day that my hair was a million shades lighter than my natural colour, but still just as healthy all the same! I particularly have Erin (@garage.hair) to thank for that!
I highly recommend a visit to Edwards and Co before race day to get that mane of yours under control!
If you're much like me, you have a million bazillion different make up products, with probably 5-10 of those products actually being put to use. Firstly, clean them all out! Secondly, invest in quality make up products that suit your skin type! I would also suggest getting some make up products with SPF in them, because lets face it- a sunburnt face on race day isn't cool. The majority of my make up comes from Clinica Lase and Mecca Cosmetics- with a few favourite products being Colorscience Pressed Mineral Foundation, Unforgettable Mineral Finishing Powder spf50 (Clinica Lase), Hourglass Bronzer and my NARS eyeshadow pallet (Mecca). In the lead up to the Spring Racing carnival, I would even suggest doing a quick visit to Mecca Cosmetica to get the run down on how to apply your make up, they seriously know their stuff!
So there you have it ladies- the run down on all things hair, skin and make up. I know their is still sooo many fields yet to cover as us ladies love to pamper to the extreme.
Would love to hear from Base Colour readers if their are any tips/prep related to skin, hair, or make up that you would recommend in the lead up to or on the day of the Spring Races? Comment by clicking the 'comment' button below!
